Cartoons and Flag burning

9:45 am on Thursday, February 9, 2006

Eugene Volokh argues that the flag burning ammendment and censorship of images of Mohammad are the same issue, and to be consistant you can’t support an anti-flag burning ammendment and still support free speech for cartoons of Mohammad.

I agree with that assessment.

Hey Cuboid! That’s a way of expressing anger and disrespect. Kid, it is like those fairy tales that your mother may still be telling you everynight she puts you to bed after forcing you to pee. The tales in which a white flag means Peace and an end to War. Kid I guess its time for you to learn jumping from a chair… come on… good luck!

Any group, ANY GROUP, who thinks it is perfectly alright, even justified, to kill, maim, burn, disrupt, and destroy in the name of a religion is distorting religion, whatever the name of the religion. If these thugs who pose with upraised rifles for the cameras and call themselves Muslims had any real conviction, they would be working peacefully to show the world that Muslims are a real part of the religious fabric of our world. Currently the majority of Muslims seen in the media are demonstrating to the world that they believe that they are always right and everyone else is always wrong if they disagree with a Muslim viewpoint. In the Muslim view that is publicized day after day, there is only one way to see anything, and that is their way. If you do not agree, then their answer is to kill you, and burn your property. This is a religion?

Wow. Scary to see guys like Bull C. Rap out there. When will humanity learn that more hate cannot be the answer for hate?

Dave, I agree as well.

So Mr. Lightbody, you are scared of a man who has never hurt anyone, believes in God, and provides for his family through honest hard work. Since you apparently are not scared of lawbreaking, murderous renegades, who use any excuse to kill, maim, and burn, your values are not those I would embrace. You commented about hate, which was never mentioned in my comments. I would say that in my experience it is not a viable remedy to attempt to engage in genteel conversation those within lawless gangs who are actively involved in the pursuit of destroying anyone who disagrees with them.

” This is a religion? ”
Bullcrap, yes it is. There is more to Islam than the images you see in the media. Not your fault, I would blame the media for that. Anyway, in answer to your curiosity whether ours is a religion, I invite you to take a closer look at Islam, beyond the media stunts. I invite you to understanding the Divine Way 1.5b muslims follow in their day-to-day lives. Don’t take this invitation as outright attempt to proselytize, I just want you to start understanding that Islam is more than what you see in the media. By the way the media never did show you or report to you with all fine details the act of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage of Muslims to Mecca, and the meaning behind it. I mean I just want you to know that ” Yeah, this is a religion after all. And this is very much unlike what the media had been showing all this while!”
Thanks for the acceptance, in advance. Not necessarily right now or in near future, but sometime for sure before you go into the mercy of God. Amen…
