An Islamic Declaration of War?

12:11 pm on Monday, May 15, 2006

I am not a frequent reader of Little Green Footballs, but I saw a link to this post in the comments at Belmont Club and it is something interesting to think about. Charles Johnson posits that Ahmadinejad’s letter to President Bush is An Islamic Declaration of War.

I am not certain that this is correct, but it is worth considering.   Iran has rather consistantly rejected western diplomatic conventions, and judging their actions purely from our own perspective would probably be a mistake.

As a Muslim, I feel that it is men like him who give Islam and everything that Muslims really stand for a bad name. There are more fundamental problems in the Islamic community today than to worry so much about converting everyone under the sun. God’s message is universal. These guys should be looking inside themselves and looking for cures of the diseases in their hearts before they are so concerned with everyone else’s salvation.

Certainly good to hear from you Adel. It is Muslims like you that give me hope for the future. To a large extent, I think that the west is just ann observer in the real battle, the one between moderate Muslims who value their religion and violent fanatics who have only a message of hate.

I certainly hope your side wins.
