Iran, EU Fail to Reach a Deal in Berlin

Iran and the European Union failed to reach a deal in their latest round of nuclear talks but came to “some positive conclusions,” Tehran’s chief negotiator said Thursday. Neither Ali Larijani nor EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana gave any details of what had been achieved, but both spoke positively of the discussions over Tehran’s disputed nuclear program.

Clearly, I can see why Iran would be happy with not reaching a deal, the longer they can continue to negotiate without any concessions the better off they are.  The European diplomats should not be so happy in my opinion; they are clearly not achieving their aims.   I think that many of them have forgotten that diplomatic talks are a means to an end, not an end in and of themselves.
