Ex-page tells of tryst with politician
The former page, who agreed to discuss his relationship with Mark Foley with the Los Angeles Times on the condition he not be identified, said his electronic correspondence with the politician began after he finished the respected Capitol Hill page program for high school juniors. His sexual encounter was in the fall of 2000, he said. At the time, he was 21 and a graduate of a rural Northeastern college.
I am unsure why this is news. Having sex with a 21 year old who used to sort of work for you isn’t illegal, or even unethical. Some may look askance at the age difference, others will obviously disapprove of any homosexual sex, but I can’t see any story here.
I worry somewhat that the ’story’ is moving from inappropriate activities by a congressman, to more general gay-baiting. That wouldn’t be a good thing for our nation.
