Hmmm...I don't see it quite that way Patrick. He has put on the most expensive campaign in history, with a very unpopular republican sitting in the Presidency, with a weak economy, and after 8 years of Republican government with the country certainly ready for change.

With all that, he is up just a few points in the polls.

Yes, he'll probably win. 2008 has always favored the Democrats. But come on, with all those advantages and STILL needing to out-spend by a huge margin to just get a little bit ahead? Hardly a ringing endorsement.

Are you kidding? Regardless of what you think about his policies, it's hard to deny that Obama hasn't run one of the best campaigns in presidential history. He's competing in states that shouldn't have been competitive. He's forcing McCain to spend his limited money on defense rather than offense. Georgia, North Carolina, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada, etc... all because he was able to get these massive number of donors.

If people choose to give him more money for the election, he is obligated to spend it for the election. And by all accounts, his return on investment has been great. And, by just about every account, he has managed his campaigns budget almost perfectly. The vendors and staff he has used haven't been left unpaid, which is a lot more than more of the competitors in the primary and general can say.

Congratulations. You just inspired me to give Obama $50 more. :)

He's going to need to refund all those mysterious donations received via gift cards. :)

Or, he needs to get a jump start on his reelection campaign.

Then again, I get constant requests for donations.
